Trump Misinformation and The future of the United States
Matthew Graves, currently the US Prosecutor for the District of Columbia and charged to investigate crimes. Now, that seems like a straightforward and honest profession. His problem is that he's been assigned to investigate Trump, and that gets sticky. Trump's a guy who is not known for demonstrating honesty or integrity, so there's a lot of leg work in order to find much that can be used for trial. Plus he may find a rabid Trump hounding him and looking for a way to make him disappear. This is a man who is just doing his job and is in the process of finding laws that have been broken and the evidence needed for proof. In doing this, he is not only sticking his own neck out, but placing his friends and family in Trump's sights.
Now the GOP, or as they once were called, the "Grand Old Party," don't have much to entice their voters. When I worked in Marketing, I knew I would need products that my agencies could sell before I could offer them a contract. It's so damned sad that the Republicans just don't have anything they can offer their voters, so their solution is to be less than credible and continue to offer nothing. I would have to believe that Republicans could predict that, sooner or later, their voters would realize that the old bag that gets dragged around, year after year, has nothing but fluff in it.
Trump had been misinforming, and some call that lying, about the price of food. He complained loudly that the Biden administration failed to reduce prices after Covid. Then in a later speech, he warns his followers that decreasing food prices is very difficult. And then there's his promise to round up 20 million undocumented immigrants, process them and ship them out to camps using the military, which is also illegal. Then maybe Mexico will pick them all up at the border and deliver them back to their homes, but as with much of what Trump says, it's just more lying.
In 15 to 20 years, if we still have some sort of democracy, students and historians will wonder how Trump was ever elected.
